Jesus Is Really Bad at Hide & Seek

In a Sunday School class I taught a while back, we were talking about Jesus — His goodness, His mercy, and how He always shows up for us.

In the middle of our discussion, one of the teenage boys (the kind you never quite know what he’s going to say!) raised his hand.

“Derek,” he said, “can I tell you one thing Jesus is really bad at?”

Every head snapped toward him.

I took a breath, braced myself, and said, “All right… I’ll allow it. But be careful.”

He grinned. “Oh, trust me. Stay with me.”

Then he said:

“Jesus is really bad at hide and seek.”

Before I could respond, he continued:

“The worst hide-and-seek strategy ever is:
‘I’ll tell you exactly where I am… come find Me.’
And that’s what Jesus does over and over again.”

He started quoting scriptures:

  • “Ask, and ye shall receive…”

  • “Knock, and it shall be opened…”

  • “Seek me diligently, and ye shall find me…”

Then he said, “Jesus isn’t trying to hide from us.

He wants us to find Him.”

I loved that. This young man preached a full sermon in 30 seconds.

Jesus doesn’t hide.
He invites.
He reveals.
He makes Himself findable.

And the more intentionally we look for Him — in scripture, in prayer, in small miracles, in daily moments — the more we see Him everywhere.

That’s one of the reasons I love our Prayer Verses and Faith Verses BibleSocks.

Every time you put them on, you’re literally surrounding yourself with reminders of the Savior’s invitation:

Look for Me.
Seek Me.
And you will find Me.

And the more we look, the more He shows up.

Always.
