He Can "Make it Good"
On one my beautiful mornings on my walk this last week, I found myself thinking about a conversation we had in a midweek Bible study the night before.
We were spending time in the book of Exodus.
Now, if you’ve ever read through some of those chapters… you know they can get very specific.
Situations about property, animals, restitution - very detailed, very practical laws.
At first glance, it can feel a little disconnected from everyday life.
But as we slowed down in Exodus 22 and really looked through the first 14 or so verses…
We started to notice a pattern.
Certain words kept showing up again and again:
Restore.
Restitution.
Pay Double
and one of my favorites...
Make it good.
And suddenly, those chapters didn’t feel so distant anymore.
Because those words point to something bigger.
At one point, a young man raised his hand and asked:
“What does restitution look like today?”
Such a simple question…
But such a powerful one.
Because we all know what it feels like when something isn’t right.
When something is broken.
When something is unfair.
When something just feels… off.
In those Old Testament laws, people were taught to bring offerings and make things right.
To restore what was lost.
To repair what was broken.
To make things good again.
But those laws were always pointing forward to something greater.
Someone greater.
Because the truth is…
On our own, we don’t always get it right.
We mess up.
We try again.
We promise we won’t repeat the same mistake…
…and sometimes we do anyway.
Sound familiar? 😅
But here’s the hope:
What we can’t fully fix… Jesus can.
That’s why the Cross matters so much to all Christians, regardless of your particular faith tradition.

It’s more than a symbol.
It’s a reminder that through Jesus Christ:
- Broken things can be restored
- Wrong things can be made right
- Unfair things can be redeemed
He can "make it good".
So if there’s something in your life right now that feels off…
Something that feels unfair…
Something that feels broken…
Take it to Him.
Not because everything instantly becomes easy…
But because through Him, what’s unfair, what’s broken, what feels messed up - can be made right.
What is something in your life right now that you need to trust Jesus to restore or “make it good”?
God bless!
