What to Do When "the Accuser" Shows Up
Have you ever noticed that when you are about to do something spiritually significant, then all of the opposition starts coming.
Let me give you a quick example from the Bible.
In my personal reading, I was reading in Zechariah 3 where the Jews were let back into Jerusalem by the Persians to rebuild the temple.
Two men - Zerubbabel and Joshua were let in to do start the work, and in Zechariah 3:1 - Satan comes along and tries to resist him...DARN IT!
I was looking in another version of the scriptures and saw that the word "accuse" may be a more accurate translation, than "resist".
After all, the title of Satan means "adversary or accuser".
So it makes total sense that as Joshua, who also happened to have "filthy garments" (Zechariah 3:3), was being accused by him of being unworthy to enter and do the work he needed to do.
Now, in all fairness - he has a point. We all sin and come short of the glory of God...and Satan LOVES to focus on our unworthiness rather that our need to repent...which happens in verses 4-5 as Joshua is given a change of clothes and becomes worthy.
Now, I also love the title of the Lord here in verse 7..."THE LORD OF HOSTS". It is actually mentioned over 50 times... just in the book of Zechariah!
As I searched this title in Google, I found these two pictures - both of which I liked.
The first is powerful and majestic...while the second, in my opinion, is more real and relevant to my life right now.
Which leads to a great verse that now means a lot to me...
Thus saith the Lord of hosts; If thou wilt walk in my ways, and if thou wilt keep my charge, then thou shalt also judge my house, and shalt also keep my courts, and I will give thee places to walk among these that stand by. (Zechariah 3:7)
As one good friend pointed out to me, WORTHINESS is not FLAWLESSNESS.
When you feel like you have failed too many times to keep trying, and the "accuser" comes along telling you that you aren't worthy, remember The Lord of (Heavenly) Hosts "that stand by" and will help you as you turn to Him.
God is SO good, my friends! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
